Healthy Start is an NHS scheme that supports families on low income to buy fruit, vegetables and milk and access free vitamins.
The Parenting Team at Shropshire Council run regular parenting workshops including 'Understanding your child SEND courses' and 'Sleep Tight workshops'
New Children & Young People’s Mental Health Service – From 1 April 2026
From 1 April 2026, the current BeeU service will be replaced by a new Children and Young People’s Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Service provided by Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT).
This updated service covers Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and is designed to offer earlier support, easier access and more joined-up care for children and young people aged 0–25.
What stays the same
- If a child or young person is already receiving support from BeeU, this will continue.
- No re-referral or opt-in is needed.
What is changing
The new service model includes:
- One single front door for information and referrals
- Earlier help and support while waiting for assessment
- Joined-up care, so families do not need to repeat their story
- Support for ages 0–25
- Fairer access, especially for vulnerable groups, SEND and children in care
- A strengthened digital offer
- Continued development of improved support pathways
Areas of Support
Neurodevelopmental (Autism & ADHD)
Assessment and support will continue, with crisis pathways available for urgent risks.
Eating Difficulties & Eating Disorders
More community-based support, including early help, intensive support at home and medical monitoring.
Support in Schools
Mental Health Support Teams will continue expanding across schools, offering early intervention for mild-to-moderate needs for ages 5–16/18.
Transitions to Adult Services
Planned support for young people moving to adult mental health services, usually beginning around age 16, with continued support up to age 25 if needed.
I-THRIVE Framework
Support will be organised around four levels:
- Getting Advice – Self-help, 24/7 support, community-based advice
- Getting Help – Group/1:1 support, wellbeing check-ins
- Getting More Help – Specialist assessments and therapies
- Getting Priority Support – 24/7 urgent mental health support and crisis care
