July 2017: Cycling and swimming

Tuesday was a great day for sporting achievements with both the Swimming gala and Cycling event taking place.

Swimming gala: A huge well done to all the children who participated at this year’s swimming gala and came who fourth overall at the Shrewsbury Quarry swimming and fitness centre. All the children participated fantastically and represented the school superbly. A big thank you to all the supporters who came along and cheered us on!

Cycling Competition: Angus McKelvie, Callum McKelvie, Ned Owen, Isaac Wareing and Michael Tudor took part in the ‘Shropshire Homes School Sport Festival’ as part of the School Games after competing against neighbouring schools to make it through to the county finals representing Shrewsbury earlier this year. They competed against East Shropshire, North Shropshire, South Shropshire, and two areas from Telford & Wrekin. After lots of hard work St Thomas and St Anne’s School Hanwood was placed FIRST and crowned the Cycling champions. A fantastic achievement against really strong opposition – very well done boys!

June 2017: School Sports Day

Thank you to Lucy George and James Reilly for working so hard in preparing for our Sports Day last Tuesday – the organisation was excellent. Fortunately the rain just held off and it was a lovely afternoon. The children participated very well in both the team activities and competitive races, with a spirit of good sportsmanship being evident throughout. Thank you also to the Governors who very kindly helped out on the day and to the HSA for providing refreshments during the afternoon and for organising the raffle. Well done to all the teams, but a special mention to Kestrels for edging into first place overall!

June 2017: Tri Golf, Archery, and Sport leaders

A huge well done to all the children who participated at the school games archer and tri-golf event. All children worked well together and put in 100% . A great day was had by all.

May 2017: School games cycling

Congratulations to the children who took part in the cycling competition at Sundorne Sports Village on Thursday 25 May. The children represented the school extremely well: the A Team, consisting of Angus & Callum McKelvie, Ned Owen and Michael Tudor, were 1st in their section and the B Team of Isaac Wareing, Jay Brookes, Annie Roberts and Naomi Duffy were Runners Up in their section. As a result of this fantastic achievement both teams have qualified for the Shropshire County Games in July. A huge well done to all of them!
